The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) is taking aerial platform safety to the SMOPYC exhibition (22 to 26 April 2008, Zaragoza, Spain) in a big way. With the support of the organisers, IPAF has a safety zone of 1,000 square metres in the exterior area featuring equipment from IPAF members. The IPAF Safety Zone will feature demonstrations on how to exit the platform in the event of emergency, using one of the largest vehicle-mounted platforms.
The use of harnesses on boom type platforms continues to be a key theme and IPAF will promote the Spanish ¡click-clack! campaign that saves lives by encouraging the use of harness on booms. ¡click-clack! is part of a worldwide campaign already supported by many safety authorities and equipment manufacturers around the world. Click Clack stickers will be available from IPAF’s stand at SMOPYC.
“IPAF’s activities are on the march in Spain with 15 training centres and we will continue to promote our established platform operator training programme that meets international standards,” said IPAF managing director Tim Whiteman. “More than 70,000 PAL Cards (Powered Access Licences) are issued each year as proof of this high quality training. We invite visitors to stop by the IPAF stand to find out how this structured training programme makes work at height safe and productive.”
