German PDS with big turnout
2008/02/29
A total of 71 IPAF-approved instructors took part in the German Professional Development Seminars (PDS) in Zürich and Frankfurt in this February.
The new IPAF categories and the new demonstrator course were the main themes.
The demonstrator course details the tasks and responsibilities of a demonstrator and explains the relevant legislation, procedures and methods. A theory and a practical test are part of the course. The demonstrator course is an important step towards more professionalism and safety awareness in the industry.
The IPAF categories are moving to align with the international standards prEN 280 and ISO/DIS 16368. These standards regulate the design and manufacture of platforms worldwide.
The operator course has been revised and further new animations have been added, reflecting the high quality of the IPAF course.
Other themes discussed were new developments in safety regulations, such as the Swiss EKAS checklist and the German Berufsgenossenschaftlicher Grundsatz for the training and authorisation of platform operators.
The participants were in good spirits, recognising that the IPAF training programme offers training centres a meaningful and professional training tool. Acceptance of IPAF training in the industry is expected to grow rapidly.
Tim Whiteman, IPAF managing director, welcomed the participants and invited them to the IPAF Summit on 15 April 2008. There is reason to celebrate - IPAF was established in 1983 and will be 25.
Many thanks to all the participants for contributing to a great event!
